Joanie's Place

Busy, Busy, Busy

Doesn't seem possible that it is 2007 already. I've been steadily working on Miss December. Have one total page finished, and 1/4 of the next done.

Finished my shawl, but I think it came out too small. I put it over my shoulders and it looks beautiful!!! Only have about 6 inches that come down. Problem is that I am too big, guess I'll think about gifting this to someone. Just have to decide who is worthy of all that work and will really appreciate it.

I have found a new shawl pattern that I am dying to start, can't remember the name at the moment, and I am blogging from work. My new project in knitting started just before Christmas is an afghan. I'm making it in squares, different colors, different patterns. I'm having fun deciding what to do in each square. I have a Leisure Arts patternbook of 60 some different patterns. All squares will be 59 stitches wide, on some I have to add a couple knits on either side to accomodate the 59 stitches.

My LYS, Finger Lakes Fibers had a 40% off sale on stocking kits and red and green yarns. I've always wanted to do a Christmas Afghan. As you can tell, I LOVE Christmas, all the bright lights, colors, activities, music, etc. Probably won't be starting this until the other afghan is done.

I need to do a 50th Anniversary cross stitch picture for mid February, so all knitting is on hold for a while. I'll be going to a stitching weekend the end of this month, so I shall have to concentrate on this. Now, just have to decide which pattern to use. I am torn between a traditional pattern with 50th, their names and some kind of flowers around it, or maybe a wedding pattern with doves, ribbons and roses on it from Stoney Creek that I found. Nice thing about their patterns, usually no 1/4 stiches which slow a project down. Another possiblility is a Paw Printings Egg sampler which I just love. Would have to add a small section in the center to add names, date, etc.

Well, I suppose I should get back to work. (by the way, my boss is my husband, so if he finds me doing this, all I have to do is smile! What we self employed wives of self employed husbands can get away with is amazing, but that is another story!)

Have a great day everyone.
